Scarsdale Congregational Church Free Puppet Show

The Scarsdale Congregational Church is hosting a free puppet show on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00am for any special needs child and sibling in the lower Westchester area. The featured performance, An Arabian Adventure, will be presented by the Tanglewood Marionettes. The 11:00am performance is specifically for children with developemental and physical disabilities and their siblings, including children with autism, HIV or chronic health issues. Pre-registration for the 11:00am show is a must as seating is limited! RSVP (deadline 4:00pm, November 18), to sccoffice@verizon.net and include the number of adults and children that will be attending or call Maria at the church office (914 723-2111). The show will be in Dyckman Hall in the Parish House and is handicap-accessible. The 1:00pm and 3:00pm showtimes are open to Scarsdale families with or without disabilities (children grades 1-6). All are welcome!

About the show:
Featuring over a dozen beautifully hand-crafted marionettes and exquisite "story-book" style scenery, "An Arabian Adventure" tells the tale of a Persian prince who is thrown into a dungeon because of his love for a beautiful princess. Facing danger at every turn, the courageous prince must battle his way out of the underground prison to save his beloved princess.

Recommended for children 5 and up (grades 1-6), but enjoyable for all! There are a couple of creepy-crawlies in the show, a giant spider, a break-away skeleton, a scorpion, and the Grand Vizier villain is mildly scary. A good popular culture comparison would be Disney's "Aladdin": if parents feel that that movie is appropriate for their child, then they should be fine with "An Arabian Adventure".
