COMMITTEE ACTION SPOTLIGHT
Sustainability, Darlene LeFrancois-Haber and Michelle Sterling, Co-chairs

Congratulations and thanks to this committee for bringing Westchester’s first ever food scrap recycling drop off now open at Secor Road Facility! Scarsdale residents can now take all their food scraps to the collection bins at Scarsdale’s recycling facility during the facility’s regular business hours. If you want to get started collecting food scraps in your home for recycling, there are “starter kits” available either at Secor Road ($20 check only) or email Michelle Sterling Directly: michellesterling1@gmail.com.

This committee has provided a comprehensive summary of all initiatives and current status of each. To learn more, including how you can do your part, click on this link: Learn more.

County Fiscal Affairs, Mark Lewis, Chair

The County Fiscal Affairs Committee is interested in looking at the proposed Public private agreement that the County Executive is trying to push. The Committee will look to see if the monetary value makes dollar sense to Westchester residents. The Committee is looking for additional members to work on this and other topics.
Education, Dan Hochvert and Mayra Kirkendall-Rodríguez, Co-chairs

The Education Committee is working on a report to suggest to the Board of Education that it encourage the Scarsdale school administration to create a long term financial plan. The committee has sought input from all the members and hopes to have a complete report soon.

Special Events, Linda Blair, Chair

The Special Events Committee is hard at work coordinating what should be another terrific, chase-away-the-winter-blues event — our very own Winterfest — a chance to meet and greet fellow Forum members and other community residents and chase away the cold. Mark your calendars for February 4th at the Scarsdale Woman’s Club 7-11 pm with a 4-7 pm snow/rain date the following day.
Good food, good friends, good libations – it’s a promise
