THE VOYAGE OF THE ST. LOUIS: A CONVERSATION WITH A SURVIVOR AND A NOVELIST

Join Sonja Maier Geismar, a St. Louis survivor, in a conversation with Armando Lucas Correa, author of The German Girl, the story of a twelve-year-old girl’s harrowing experience fleeing Nazi-occupied Germany with her family and best friend, only to discover that the overseas asylum they had been promised is an illusion.

Armando Lucas Correa is an award-winning journalist, author, and the editor-in-chief for People en Español.
He is the magazine’s primary spokesperson and regularly appears on national Spanish-language television programs.
Sonja Maier Geismar
is a Holocaust survivor who traveled on the St. Louis from Germany at the age of 4 with her parents and paternal grandparents.
Moderated by Millie Jasper, Executive Director of the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center.

Kutsher’s Country Club was the last surviving Jewish resort in the Catskills. One of the legendary Borscht Belt hotels during its heyday, Kutsher’s was family-owned and operated for over 100 years. Exploring the full Dirty Dancing-era Catskills experience through a close up look at Kutsher’s rise and fall, this award-winning documentary captures a last glimpse of a lost world as it disappears before our eyes.
